Where does YetiCon take place?

YetiCon takes place at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario. Our indoor panels, activities, registration and Exhibitors Room are in The Village Conference Centre (not to be confused with the “Blue Mountain Inn & Conference Centre”), while our other outdoor activities and parties take place at venues throughout the Blue Mountain Village.

What is the Blue Mountain Village?

The Blue Mountain Village is an area of Blue Mountain Resort surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and activities. Hotels located in the Village are the Grand Georgian, Seasons, Weider Lodge, and Mosaic. YetiCon's indoor location: The Village Conference Centre, also borders The Village.

Does YetiCon have a discount code for Blue Mountain accommodations?

Where can I book a room?

Booking instructions to apply our YetiCon discount code can be found here. Alternatively if you wish to stay at an area not listed online (such as Wintergreen), you can phone Blue Mountain to reserve a room. Mention the code and YetiCon to inquire if our discount will apply.

What is Blue Mountain's Cancellation and Deposit policy?

Blue Mountain's Deposit and Cancellation policies are as follows: "A deposit equal to the first night stay will be processed 30 days prior to arrival. You have up to 10 days prior to arrival to cancel your reservation for a $25 administration fee (plus HST). However, if you cancel your reservation or change dates within 10 days of arrival, your deposit will be forfeited. Alternatively, you could apply your deposit toward a new reservation (excluding The Westin Trillium House) arriving within one year of the cancellation date. Any changes to the reservation will be subject to the current accommodation rate at the time of the change."

Where do I check-in to my Village hotel?

If you are staying at one of the Village hotels (Grand Georgian, Seasons, or Weider Lodge), check-in can be done at the Grand Georgian front desk.

How far away is the Blue Mountain Inn from The Village?

The Blue Mountain Inn is less than a 10 minute walk from The Village, however there is also a free resort shuttle available for use to avoid the walk.

How can I contact the Free Resort Shuttle?

The shuttle can be reached for on-demand service by calling 705-443-5519 or by calling 877-445-0231 ext 8280.

What Blue Mountain Resort activities can I participate in with my YetiCon badge?

Outside of our own activities, there are many resort activities that are included with the YetiCon badge at specific times. The times for these resort activities can be found in our program, and almost all of them are exclusively for use by YetiCon badge owners during these times.

Is there a discount for activity tickets outside of YetiCon's included times?

Yes! If there's a Blue Mountain activity you want to do, but it conflicts with something else, you can use your YetiCon wristband to get a 40% discount on any base camp activity for you to enjoy at any time! (Discount is available between Thursday June 14th, 2018 and Monday June 18th, 2018).

Is Blue Mountain Resort a waterpark?

Blue Mountain Resort is not a waterpark, however each hotel has access to its own pool and hot tubs area, as seen on the map (the Blue Mountain Inn has an indoor pool area as well as four separate outdoor hot tubs).

In addition, for 2018, YetiCon attendees will have access to the Plunge! Aquatic Centre all day Saturday from 12PM to 7PM and all day Sunday from 10AM to 7PM! The Plunge! Aquatic Centre is separate from all hotels and you will just need a YetiCon pass to enter at these times.

Is there free WiFi?

Yes, Blue Mountain provides complimentary WiFi in hotel lobbies. Premium WiFi is also available for greater reach covering hotels and conference centres for $9.95 per 24h or $17.95 per 72h, for up to three devices.

Is there free parking?

Yes, Blue Mountain has an abundance of free parking spots located beside Blue Mountain's Village and The Village Conference Centre. Free parking spots are designated by the green square with “P” inside on the resort map.

Where can I eat?

There are multiple means to procure edible sustenance! Many restaurants are located in The Village, but there are also many delivery options such as pizza and more for your hotel room. In addition, if you are staying at a Village hotel (Grand Georgian, Seasons, or Weider Lodge) you can choose to prepare your own food, as each of the Village rooms have a full kitchen within them (with the exception of Studio Suites which have a kitchenette instead).

What are the hours for Blue Mountain's front desk and security?

Blue Mountain runs both a 24-hour front desk and 24-hour security. You can contact them any time through your room should you need to, security also patrols The Village.

Is there a bus?

Summerbound is running a bus for 2018! Please head to our location & travel page for details, seats are extremely limited!

Additionally, Greyhound does have transportation from Toronto to Collingwood (the town Blue Mountain directly borders) where you can take a short trip via taxi/uber to the resort. 

Summerbound transportation can also be chartered privately from the GTA directly to Blue Mountain. However, it can be costly if you do not have a group to split it with.

If those options are unappealing, and you are still unable to catch a ride, you may want to look into carpooling or ride-sharing to get directly to the resort.

Is The Village Conference Centre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, The Village Conference Centre is fully wheelchair accessible.

Is there a cosplay competition?

Yes, although there is no formal cosplay competition, our judges will be awarding hall awards around the Village Conference Centre throughout the weekend.

Is there a cosplay masquerade?

Although not a formal masquerade, we will be having an open, unjudged, Cosplay Catwalk on Saturday in the Huron Grand Ballroom.

What are YetiCon's general policies?

YetiCon's policies can be found in detail at our policy page.

What is YetiCon's weapon policy?

YetiCon requires attendees to observe all Ontario laws regarding replica firearms and weaponry. To ensure safety, ALL cosplay props resembling firearms MUST have a distinct marker that visibly identifies it as a prop (such as an orange tip, or a proportion larger than real weapons).

Please keep in mind that all props that appear weapon-like, or could potentially be viewed as a threat by attendees, staff, or the general public, may be confiscated by Blue Mountain security.

Are kids free to access YetiCon?

Unfortunately, due to the number of activities we've booked out exclusively for YetiCon that are included with the pass, we can't let children in free. Kids will need a pass to participate in YetiCon activities.

Children two or under (that are too young to participate in YetiCon activities) can be brought into the Exhibitors Room for free, however we do allow our artists and vendors to sell mature content in our Exhibitors Room.

Can I solicit in the Village Conference Centre?

No, Blue Mountain does not allow soliciting. Please do not solicit in the Village Conference Centre. If you have promotional material for a related convention or event we'd be happy to display it for you on our Con Collective table.

Can I cosplay anything?

Of course! As long as it does not conflict with our costume and cosplay policies (full nudity/offensive material) you can cosplay whatever you'd like! :)

Where can I take photos or have cosplay photoshoots at Blue Mountain Resort?

Photos can be be taken anywhere at Blue Mountain Resort, EXCEPT on the golf course! We don't want anyone to be hit by stray golf balls!

Where can I find information to book cosplay photoshoots or group photoshoots?

We have a Facebook group where many photographers have posted their information. The pinned post will also be updated as a directory of photographers that have said they're coming to YetiCon 2018! In addition, if you wish to set up a group shoot feel free to use this group to find cosplayers of the same fandom.

 

Tickets

Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?

Yes, bring either your printed ticket or digital ticket via phone for scan at the event to receive your YetiCon wristband. Wristbands will be made available for pickup at 4PM on Friday June 15, 2018.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

YetiCon is an all ages event! However, there are specific events at night that are 19+. You will be asked to show ID at these events.

What is the refund policy?

YetiCon has a no refund policy.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Perfectly fine! In the event that you need to resell your Eventbrite ticket the name does not need to match the attendee. However each Eventbrite ticket is only valid for one YetiCon wristband.

Will passes be available for purchase at the door?

Yes! Weekend passes will be available at the door for $65 total. Passes bought at the door can be purchased with cash only.
